Eliška Paulíková Succeeds in the Werner von Siemens Awards
Ing. Eliška Paulíková, a student at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, achieved success in the prestigious Werner von Siemens Awards, where she received 2nd place in the master’s thesis category dedicated to Industry 4.0. She was recognized for her thesis Automation of Laboratory Work: Modernization and Extension of Pipetting Robot Functions for Handling Small Objects.
Eliška Paulíková studied Sensors and Cybernetics at the Department of Mathematics, Informatics and Cybernetics. Her thesis was supervised by doc. Ing. Jitka Čejková, Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical Engineering, with Ing. Tomáš Jirsa serving as consultant.
The awarded thesis focused on the automation of laboratory processes using robotics. As part of the project, the Evobot pipetting robot was modernized and its functions extended so that, in addition to pipetting, it could also manipulate small objects. The project also included software modifications enabling QR code coordinate detection and more efficient control of robotic laboratory operations. The result is a functional system contributing to the advancement of laboratory automation and reducing errors in routine procedures.
The Werner von Siemens Awards are among the most prestigious awards for students and young researchers in the Czech Republic. Every year, they recognize outstanding master’s and doctoral theses as well as significant achievements in both basic and applied research.
This success in the Werner von Siemens Awards is only one of many distinctions Eliška received during her studies. She had previously been awarded the Faculty of Chemical Engineering Award for an outstanding master’s thesis in mathematics, informatics, and cybernetics. During her studies, she also participated three times in the Student Scientific Conference, winning once and placing second twice. In addition, she received the award for the Best Poster at the SSCHE 2023 conference. Through her talent, diligence, and creativity, she became one of the most prominent student researchers at the faculty.
After completing her master’s studies, Eliška moved into the commercial sector. Already during her studies, she worked as a project assistant at SIDAT, where she now holds the position of Junior Project Engineer and contributes to industrial automation projects. We are pleased that graduates of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering continue to find opportunities in innovative technology companies and contribute to the development of modern industry.
We warmly congratulate Ing. Eliška Paulíková on this significant achievement.
